Abstract
There are many reported articles about the bacteriological studies on chronic suppurative otitis media The etiologic organisms of chronic suppurative ctitis media can be an important causative factor on delay of healing and acute exac rbation. It seems to be very important to know the distribution of bacterial organisms and their sensitivity to various antibiotics not only for the treatment, but also for understanding the condition of the lesion.
Thus, the authors have performed the bacteriological studies and their sensitivity tests in 63 cases who have been operated in our hospital and obtained the following results:
1) The most common organisms were proteus species (30.9%), and pseudomonas (13.2%).
2) Among them, the cholesteatoma were found in 33 cases and the most common organisms of them were also proteus species, 45.5%.
3) Most of the proteus species were sensitive to kanamycin and chloramphenicol in majority of the cases.
